This page is a placeholder for the many Schmachtenberger census records I’ve accumulated.
This first record is from 1870 South Bend, Indiana. It shows my ggg-grandmother, the widowed Mary with children Eliza (my gg-grandmother) and Eliza’s siblings: Catherine, George, Margaret, Mary. The final entry for “Ora” or “Ava” remains a mystery. I have not found a birth certificate or anything further than her entry here. But what genealogist doesn’t love an unsolved mystery? To be solved someday…
