Bertrand, Francois Xavier 1862 – 1943

January 10, 1862 – February 28, 1943
 

Francois Bertrand was born in Ohio in 1862. Not much is known about his youth. He married Delia Senecal,  sometime around 1880, and they may have moved to somewhere in Canada before moving to Negaunee [also called, Swanzy], Marquette County, in Michigan’s upper peninsula. In 1900, they moved north again, this time to Calumet Township, Houghton County, Michigan.

Frank and Delia had 8 children: Maude E. [1884 in Canada]; Priscilla [1885]; Florence B. [1888 in Negaunee]; Minnie [1890]; Rose [1892]; Francois Xavier, Jr., [1893]; Delvina B. [1900 in Calumet Township]; Viola B. [1902]. Francois, Jr, their only son, died December 28, 1907 at age 14.

Frank’s daughters lived scattered throughout Michigan and Canada, with some living in Montreal, some in the Houghton area, and some in the Detroit area.

Sometime after 1903, Frank and Delia made a permanent move to Montreal, where they lived until their deaths.
