Charlotte Co., VA Will of Amos Westbrook 1800/1801
Submitted by Susan B. Chiarello
I Amos Westbrook of the County of Charlotte being very sick do
make this my last will and testament as follows. I lend unto my
wife Elizabeth Westbrook my whole estate real and personal during
her whole life or widowhood and after her death or marriage I
desire the whole of such estate so lent her be sold on such
credit as my executors may judge best and money arising therefrom
paying all my just debts, be equally divided between my children
following, that is to say Elizabeth, Elijah, Elisha, Sally, and
John Westbrook and should any of the above mentioned children die
before they receive their parts leaving no Heirs, I desire the
same shall be divided amongst the survivors or their legal
representatives of, if such Heirs then to such Heirs. I leave
Josiah Westbrook (my son) and Benjamin Lewis (my son in law) my
executors who I request will attend to my estate and prevent any
waste of my timber, my land or my message of my above mentioned
children. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
the 13th day of June eighteen hundred.
